Premium quality automotive lighting and auto electrics supplier, Ring, has added to its battery support unit range, with the addition of the RSCP20.

The RSCP20 combines three key battery tools in one unit. It is a battery support unit with a 20amp smart charger suitable for lead, gel, calcium, AGM, EFB and Lithium batteries and has an 80amp jump start function.

Its primary use is battery support, providing a constant current while mechanics carry out diagnostic work or data uploads. However the unit is useful in a variety of situations, as the jump starter can be used on cars and 4x4s, when a vehicle needs to be moved. It can also be left connected as a charger to undertake reconditioning of a battery to optimise the battery health. In addition, the unit can carry out alternator and battery tests to assess the health of the starting system.

It also has a reverse polarity protection and over-voltage protection. The over-voltage protection means it will stop adding charge if the voltage in the battery starts to increase too much.

Marketing Director for Ring, Henry Bisson, said, “We have found that technicians are beginning to look for equipment that serves multiple purposes. For example, they don’t just want a jump starter or just battery support unit anymore, they’d rather have a unit that incorporates these and other functions, such as battery analysing and alternator testing, so they don’t need different tools. This makes their work easier, as they do not have to keep switching equipment to do different jobs on a vehicle when it’s all in one place.”

 Henry adds, “Therefore, we have started creating battery support units that can help with numerous jobs. We want to create products that assist technicians and provide multiple benefits, not just one.”
