Motul is a leader in vehicle lubrication and offers different ranges to suit different customer requirements.
The Motul 8100 range has been devised so that dealers, factors and workshops are able to cover a wide spectrum of cars with a minimum number of references. It is fully synthetic in all of its variants and combines many different recent type approvals for engines from a host of different OEMs. The 8100 range covers most modern engines, whether petrol or diesel fuelled, normally aspirated or turbo/supercharged.
The Road-to-Track lubricant, Motul 8100 x-power, became the launching point for the 8100 Power series. 8100 Power is aimed at top-end performance and tuned engines. Equally at home on the racetrack or the road, it offers a cost-effective solution to those who want a really high-quality ester-based, fully synthetic lubricant, that is able to cope comfortably with all types of engine demands, offering exceptional engine response and LSPI Protection. It offers this practical ultra-high performance solution without having to move into the territory of Motul 300V, which is aimed fairly and squarely at the realms of track applications.
In 2023 Motul launched its latest breakthrough range, NGEN, which takes performance with sustainability to an entirely new level. All Motul NGEN products use either high-quality regenerated raw materials in their formulation, i.e. oils that have already been used and recycled in a complex process, or oils from renewable biological sources. This not only reduces production-related CO2 emissions, but also saves fossil raw materials and enables more sustainable production. The packaging uses recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
Given the large numbers of Internal Combustion Engine vehicles that will be on our roads for many years to come, Motul decided to pioneer a sustainable oil range in every key aspect, but, vitally, it has developed lubricants that do not sacrifice performance in any respect to achieve this sustainability. In fact, NGEN oils actually feature enhanced aspects of performance over their traditional counterparts.
Motul NGEN means the individual can make a positive difference in sustainability when lubricating their vehicle, knowing however that this new range of lubricants will give them everything they need in terms of performance.
The range launched with two motorcycle oils, NGEN 5 & 7 as well as NGEN Hybrid, which is specifically designed for vehicles that use Hybrid technology. Now Motul has moved into the wider car market with NGEN 4 and 6. These new oils are compatible with a huge variety of vehicles, including those that would normally use Motul’s 4100 and 6100 ranges.
NGEN 6 is a dedicated fuel economy formula, designed for recent vehicles powered by petrol and hybrid engines, suitable for applications requesting the latest API SP standard – although it is also backwards compatible to cover all API specifications for the last 25+ years - and ILSAC GF-6A.
NGEN 4 is a dedicated formula, specifically designed for mid-aged vehicles powered by all fuel types. The formulation complies with ACEA A3/B4, API SP – again with retro-compatibility - and multiple OEM approvals.
More NGEN variants will appear over the next couple of years.
