Clare driver Rob Dwane scored his second win of the season on the opening day of the Limerick Hillclimb Weekend.

Held near Kilfinane, Dwane finished ahead of double Naylor Engineering National champion Joe Courtney by more than a second. These two were well clear of third place man Rory Stephens.

However, on day two torrential rain had a major effect on the results. Gary Egan from Sligo took his maiden victory, 1.17 seconds ahead of Billy White, who shared the same car, a Mygale Formula Renault, with Dwane slipping to third position in the treacherous conditions.

Courtney had a disastrous day, damaging his car when he slid off the road on his opening run, and he was unable to repair it to tackle the remaining three runs. Local driver Paul O'Connell, a former National champion, improved to fourth place from his sixth on Saturday.
