ECOBAT Battery Technologies (EBT), formally Manbat, is making it two in a row in Birmingham as the company again exhibits at Automechanika, the UK’s premier aftermarket event. This year the company will be attending under its full pan-European ECOBAT Battery Technologies banner for the first time.

EBT’s Marketing Manager, Myles Pemberton, commented, “We had a great show last June, where we appeared for the last time as Manbat. We look forward with great anticipation to this June’s event, as we exhibit for the first time our complete EBT branding.” He added, “Although many visitors will still be less familiar with EBT than they were with the Manbat name, the brands we supply, VARTA, Lucas and Numax, as well as NOCO chargers, will be instantly recognised, as will the subject knowledge of our team of experienced advisers.”

Myles explained that in addition to the products on display, other key messages the team will be passing on to visitors will include the impact of new technology, particularly concerning vehicle electronics and the battery, which these days is central to the entire electrical system, as well as installation issues and battery testing procedures. He said, “To aid us with these objectives, we are backing up our presence on our main stand, which is situated in hall 18 (18A40), with two additional activities in the form of both a technical seminar presentation and another stand, this one in the interactive workshop feature area. The technical seminar, which is entitled ‘Getting To Grips With Battery Technology’ will be presented by our technical manager John Bentley and address the fact that due to the electrical demands of the modern vehicle, batteries play a central role in their correct operation. Understanding the technology and the need to keep batteries in good order, as well as how to replace and validate them into the system, is vital to the competitiveness of the workshop.”

Myles said as workshops are faced with a growing number of vehicles fitted with start-stop systems, which need specialist batteries to function correctly, the subject of battery replacement comes into focus. Not only do these vehicles need the correct battery, they also have to be ‘validated’ into the system and this is where the interactive workshop comes in.
