Brake drums used to be the natural choice for the braking system on most cars, but eventually lost out to brake discs as the number one preference. However, now thanks to the many advantages they can offer, drum brakes with brake shoes have made a comeback on certain vehicles.

Drum brakes are well suited to smaller family cars and especially electric vehicles, because they offer a low-wear, low-maintenance and economical solution. The enclose design also means there less servicing than disc brakes, however, replacement can be more complex. This is where German parts specialist MEYLE can help with practical, pre-assembled brake shoe kits. These reduce the installation work to a minimum and reliably provide all the necessary parts in one convenient kit.

A brake drum is usually replaced due to corrosion as it is a part which is less prone to suffer wear. MEYLE ORIGINAL brake drums are manufactured with the utmost precision in order to meet the highest standards.  Good brake shoes are essential in order for the drum brake to serve its purpose. Being a key component of the drum brake, brake shoes are an integral part of the MEYLE product range.

The MEYLE range offers a comprehensive array of brake shoes. However, positioning the shoes, clips and springs correctly, when installing a set of brake shoes which are not pre-assembled is not easy.  To save time and stress MEYLE offers a ‘brake shoe kit +’ with a wheel cylinder. The ‘brake shoe kit +’ makes installation easier as it solves these problems by including the attachment materials and wheel cylinder. Separate brake shoes are also available.
