A recent Blue Print ProTip highlights a problem that can result from the incorrect fuel filter being installed in Nissan Qashqai models from 2013 on (J11), and Nissan X-Trail models from 2014 on (T32).

Problem
The water in the fuel lamp is illuminated on the vehicles dashboard display after the fuel filter has been replaced.

Cause
The incorrect filter has been fitted to the vehicle during servicing. This is due to a change in specification with the fuel heater/water sensor installed in the filter. This effects Qashqai models built from August 2014 and X-Trail models from December 2014.

Solution
The correct fuel filter required for the Qashqai models built before August 2014 and X-Trail models before December 2014 can be identified by a black fuel heater/water sensor built into the filter ADN12352 (Fig. 1).

The correct fuel filter required for the Qashqai models built after August 2014 and X-Trail models built after December 2014 can be identified by a white fuel heater/water sensor built into the filter ADR162314 (Fig. 2).
