At this time of year wipers have to work especially hard, so making sure they are in the best condition is vital for good visibility. Bosch wiper blades are high-quality products which are designed to consistently ensure a clear  forward view while driving and Bosch experts have provided some practical tips and tricks to help make sure they will continue to perform well for a long time.

Bosch says that drivers should regularly clean their windscreen and the wiper rubber using a moist cloth or sponge to remove insects, tree resin, and pollen. Prior to driving it is also advisable to remove leaves or dirt stuck to the wipers to prevent damage.

Bosch recommends always using a good quality screen wash that is appropriate for the time of year, especially when temperatures get close to freezing. In extreme cold placing cardboard or plastic beneath the wipers overnight is recommended. Wipers should not be switched on until the windscreen is free of ice or snow.

Changing wipers at least once a year is recommended, or more frequently if there are signs of wear. Quality replacements from Bosch are available for all vehicles.

If after replacement wipers are not performing well, Bosch offers some further tips:
  • Remove stubborn windscreen dirt before driving.
  • Ensure the right wiper for an application has been fitted. This can be checked at  www.boschwiperblades.com
  • Check to windscreen for defects or damage.
  • There may be an underlying issue with the wiper angle or mechanism. This will need to be professionally check by a workshop.
