The bilstein group, the company behind the febi and Blue Print brands, has highlighted the important role that new to range items can play in motor factor business development 


bilstein says that having access to parts for new vehicle applications can give a stockist a competitive edge and means garage customers are able to service and repair vehicles that would other otherwise belong to the non-independent aftermarket.  

Keeping a range up to date also allows a factor to be seen as a ‘one stop shop’ for customers who don’t want the inconvenience of shopping around for different products from different outlets. This can be especially important with new and innovative, product ranges and where certain parts are generally perceived as ‘dealer only’. 

bilstein is also well aware of market changes, such as vehicle electrification and the growth of light commercial vehicles, meaning that factor ranges need to agile in reacting to these trends. 

To allow motor factors to make the most of new products for new vehicle applications, both febi and Blue Print bring these to market quickly, at competitive prices, thus allowing for business to grow. 

Reflecting this, the company has provide some interesting stats. For example: 

121 new vehicle models were added to bilstein group´s catalogue in 2022, with 1,994 articles in range, covering 34,574.  

37 part numbers are available in range for the new Toyota Aygo X, launched March 2022, 

37 part numbers are available for the new Mercedes Citan, launched January 2022,

68 part numbers are available for the new Opel Astra, launched March 2022

The bilstein group says cataloguing recently launched vehicles with existing articles in range isn’t where it stops. The company also support customers with monthly new to range files: Including everything needed for system creation, such as, bar codes, weights, dimensions, minimum order quantities, full competitor cross references and stock suggestions. 

It also highlights “Fast to Market” new articles with limited competition in every new to range file, “Rising Stars” highlights of the best-selling new to range that others are buying and issues monthly email newsletters, for each brand showcasing a selection of new to range parts.
