Shaftec opens up electrical steering opportunities

With the need to replace electrical steering system components very much on the increase in the independent aftermarket, remanufacturing experts Shaftec have risen to the challenge with a very significant investment in new facilities at its base in Birmingham.

The remanufacturing process for electrical components differs significantly from mechanical parts requiring clinical dust free facilities and very advanced equipment. Shaftec has developed and fine tuned its electrical remanufacturing capability so that it can offer high quality remanufactured electrical steering racks, electrical steering columns and electrical steering pumps.

Darren Byng of Shaftec says, “Electrical steering components have been a feature on new cars for several years and replacement demand is now very much growing in the aftermarket. We have studied the demand patterns closely, identifying the components that most need replacement and developed a comprehensive remanufactured offering to meet customer needs.”

Darren points out that that Shaftec remanufactured electrical steering components offer very significant cost saving s over new dealer sourced parts, sometimes only being a quarter of the cost,  and still deliver on quality.

Supporting its electrical steering components range Shaftec has also put in place a wealth of technical and fitting information which Darren says is vital. He stresses, “Electrical steering components differ from mechanical components significantly when it comes to fitting. With electrical parts there is a set process which must be followed to ensure the connections are made in the correct order and the component is re-programmed to ECU. Failure to follow process can mean the part will not work and could mean it is permanently damaged.”

Darren says that Shaftec offers a simple solution to this potential issue by offering technical and fitting information for many common replacements.  This allows the technician to fit the Shaftec part correctly so that it can deliver levels of performance and durability that are in line with a new replacement.
