For anyone involved in the service and maintenance of tyre pressure monitoring systems having access to TPMS battery status information can boost sensor sales and increase customer satisfaction. This can now be quickly and easily achieved with the TECH450 and TECH600 tools from Bartec.
Latest software available for these units allows the user to graphically display the current battery status of each individual TPMS sensor, with a simple traffic light system highlighting when a replacement is required, or anticipating the need for future maintenance.
Generally, when a sensor transmits the battery status, different information is sent depending on the manufacturer, such as low battery flag, a voltage, percentage capacity remaining, or remaining months. With the Bartec innovation, if the battery power is more than a quarter, a green checkmark appears in a green circle. The battery performance is therefore guaranteed for several months to come. If a yellow battery icon appears, it indicates a low battery. This should be replaced in the next six months. If a red battery symbol is displayed, the battery status is at ten percent or less. At that point, the vehicle owner should be advised to replace the sensor immediately.
The new feature enables workshops to proactively identify an empty, or soon-to-be-empty, battery and thus offer an improved service while boosting sensor sales. Faulty sensors can be replaced with the Bartec Universal programmable Ritesensor or RitesensorBlue for Tesla and other EVs.
