Depending on your age, two names from the motoring past that will get many pluses racing are Capri and Prelude.
The Ford Capri was a 1970’s icon, a sporty coupe much sought after by young men of the time. The Honda Prelude was a sports coupe which became especially popular in the 1990’s and is still highly sought after by vehicle tuners.
A new Honda Prelude concept will make its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is expected to be in showrooms next year. Although full details are not yet known, the new sporty Honda will be a hybrid. Honda has said the Prelude will “deliver the perfect balance of exhilarating driving pleasure and outstanding efficiency.” The aim it seems is to make the brand more attractive to younger buying customers.
The new Ford Capri is less true to the DNA of the original model, which will disappoint some. It will be a sportier version of the new Explorer electric SUV, which is based on the Volkswagen-sourced MEB platform. It will have a quoted range of 627 km and will be available as a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model with 286 hp and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive model with 340 hp. The new Capri will start production in Cologne in the coming weeks.
