This 2017 Jaguar E-PACE was booked in for a failure of the electric parking brake system (EPB). The system was scanned for diagnostic trouble codes, in the parking brake system, which is combined with the ABS control module. Each motor has 2 wires passing through 2 connectors, before arriving at the control module.

The code retrieved was C2007, which indicated there was an issue in the circuit to the right parking brake motor. We had the technician check the resistance from the ABS control module on both motor circuits. This indicated a difference between both motor circuits. Resistance was re-checked after disconnecting both parking brake motors. The resistance checks proved no issues with either motor. The problem was in the wiring.

Tracing back the wiring, and removing the rear wheel inner liner, we discovered the wiring loom had been rubbing on the chassis. The insulation was worn through, and the wire had begun to corrode.

The damaged loom section was repaired, the fault code was cleared, and the system returned to normal operation.

One phone call to the Autobiz Helpline for diagram information, and a testing plan, ended up saving valuable time for the technician.
