The Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test (CVRT) is an annual requirement of all light commercial vehicles in Ireland. It confirms that a vehicle satisfies basic safety standards and is an important element in making our roads safe. One of the main reasons for test failure is defective lighting and lighting specialist OSRAM is trying to help van drivers avoid the inconvenience of a failed test.

OSRAM says that in the UK market a third of light commercial vehicles failed their MOTs, the equivalent of the CVRT, with half of these fails due to lighting. Therefore, the company is reinforcing its message around quality in bulbs.

With more than 110 years in the automotive sector, renowned lighting specialist, OSRAM, is reinforcing why choosing and fitting original equipment (OE) quality bulbs will ensure driver safety on the road and make passing the CVRT more straight forward.

The company has a vast range of bulbs to suit LCVs and says one that should be considered is OSRAM’s ORIGINAL Line 12V, which is an OEM quality product that is tried and trusted by vehicle manufacturers across Europe and therefore covers a wide array of applications for both headlight and auxiliary applications.

There is also the upgrade option in OSRAM’s NIGHT BREAKER® 220, which is its brightest halogen bulb, with up to 220% more light on the road and up to 150 metre long beam. These cutting-edge headlight bulbs have up to 20% whiter light compared to the minimum legal standard, providing more light and improved visibility, which can help drivers react to road conditions more quickly. The NIGHT BREAKER® 220 is available in H4, H7 and H11 ECE types with a new gold cap.

OSRAM says LCV drivers can have complete confidence that when they buy and fit this range of bulbs, they are getting a premium quality offering with an extra-long lifespan, optimised light intensity and vibration resistance from OSRAM, the leading original equipment lighting manufacturer.
