It may look like a normal BMW X5, but under the skin this new model has some very big differences. It is called the BMW X5 Protection VR6 and it is quite literally a fully armoured car. 

Political leaders, legitimate business people and not so legitimate business people are likely to be queuing up to buy this normal looking, but highly protective SUV. 

It features a fully armoured steel body and bulletproof safety glass. It also has high-strength steel elements in the doors, side frame and roof, as well as an armoured underbody and bullet resistant fuel tank, which if it does get damaged is self sealing.  

Because it looks like a normal X5, BMW believe the vehicle will be in high demand as it will not attract too much attention. 

The BMW X5 Protection VR6 will makes its debut next month aT the IAA Mobility show in Munich and first deliveries will be made in February 2024.
