Refinish paint brand Cromax has introduced CC6500 a High Performance VOC Clear that is suitable for everything from small area repairs to full re-sprays. Based on pioneering new technology, CC6500 offers refinishers a clearcoat that is quick and easy to apply, has good vertical stability, dries quickly and produces excellent, high-gloss results.

“We have created CC6500 High Performance VOC Clear with the latest trend of low-viscosity products in mind,” says Kevin Welling, Training Academy Manager for Axalta Coating Systems. “All of its advantages mean bodyshops could save as much as 15 minutes per job in ideal conditions, so this could certainly help increase their throughput, which is an aim that is always at the forefront of our minds when we develop new products.”

Cromax says the new Clear is simple to apply in two coats with a short intermediate flash off time and offers excellent surface wetting, leading to a very smooth flow. With very good topcoat hold-out, CC6500 High Performance VOC Clear also delivers a high-gloss finish. 

Kevin points out that CC6500 High Performance VOC Clear also provides flexibility in drying that helps to save energy and reduce costs. It cures in just 15 minutes at 60°C and alternatively in 30 minutes at 40°C – so it adapts to a range of work processes with the same reliable, high-quality results. The rapid curing times also mean that components can be polished and assembled straight after cooling.

The new clear is launched with its corresponding activator, AR7505. There is an easy mixing ratio of 2:1, with an addition of 10% AZ9500 High Performance VOC Agent. This combination helps to make CC6500 High Performance VOC Clear suitable for nearly every application condition.

The new CC6500 High Performance VOC Clear is part of the Fast Repair concept for minor repairs, dents and scratches, which increases productivity through a reduction of labour time and a reduction of used materials. Kevin says, “Used together, our complete family of Cromax products combine to produce optimal results. The products in the Performance System in particular are designed to give bodyshops the best combination of productivity, easy application and high quality.”
