Braking brand, Mintex, offers garages and motor factors advanced online tools to make parts identification and installation quicker and easier, in the shape of Mintex Brakebook and VRM systems. The complementary systems run off the same data to provide fast access to highly accurate and very comprehensive information.

The Mintex Brakebook is a web-based catalogue and marketing service, designed to give factors and distributors a regularly updated catalogue of product information. As part of the global OE friction manufacturer, TMD Friction, Brakebook contains TMD’s entire product range, enabling users to create personal catalogues tailored to their individual needs. Alongside the web-based version, the online catalogue is available via a mobile app, which can be used to view an optimised version of the Brakebook.

The Brakebook allows users to search specifically by part number, OE or cross-reference codes. There is also an expert search function, allowing users to locate parts by product criteria such as width, height, thickness, number of wear indicators and more. Registered users can also create PDF catalogues tailored to their individual requirements. This could include a compilation of the entire product range, a selection of products, parts for particular car manufacturers or even a log of special models.

Brakebook is updated automatically with new products on a weekly basis, including a wide range of brake pad references, brake shoes and discs, along with a complete range of brake system accessories and brake fluids.

In addition to the Brakebook, Mintex also offers the Vehicle Registration Management (VRM) system. Free to all users, the VRM is a parts enquiry online catalogue which allows dimensional checks and comparisons to other products. The VRM system was created following feedback from customers in need of a simple solution for part clarity.

Mintex developed the VRM system to save time and increase efficiency by including an easy-to-use, one-click search function. Users simply enter the vehicle’s registration number into the search function to bring up a list of original parts, outline diagrams, part numbers, dimensions, application details and cross-referenced parts. Alternatively, manual searches can be made if the registration plate is unknown, giving users a tailored search option when looking for the correct parts.

The VRM also has a full cross reference database of registration numbers from Ireland and the UK, giving the user easy accessibility when identifying Mintex products from either an OE number or a competitor.
