Red Abbey Motors were the proud recipients of the Bodyshop of the Year Award at the recent SIMI Irish Motor Industry Awards sponsored by Bank of Ireland Finance. The glittering ceremony took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Dublin with over 700 senior motor industry figures in attendance and RTE presenter Des Cahill acting as master of ceremonies.


The awards, now in their sixth year, honour those businesses that have demonstrated excellence and best practice in their Industry over the last 12 months. They were presented by Mark Boggan President of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry and Pat Creed, Managing Director of Sponsors Bank of Ireland Finance.

Accepting the Bodyshop Award on behalf of Red Abbey was Managing Director Liam Twomey.  Speaking after the event Liam said, “The award is recognition of all the hard work and dedication of the staff team at Red Abbey who have all worked so tirelessly to bring the business to its present level. It reflects both the quality of work that the team produce and the level of dedication to customer service that they display every day.”

Red Abbey Motors was established by Liam Twomey and Denis Aherne in 1988 and has grown steadily over the years. The company moved to its third, and present, location on the South Link Park in Cork in 2014, a state of the art 18000 sq ft accident repair centre. The business has team of 17 workshop and administration staff, with the majority having long service records with company.

Liam says, “The accident repair industry has been transformed in Ireland since our company was established. Levels of technical expertise and professionalism have grown immensely and we are proud to have been a part of this.” He added, “We are especially pleased that the SIMI Certified Steel Standard initiative has proved to be a great success and we are delighted to be part of a network that is raising standards right across the industry.”
