Fogged up windows can be dangerous, as well as annoying, so knowing how to clear them as fast as possible is important, especially if you are in a hurry. YouTube of course now seems to have the answer to every problem, even clearing a fogged up windscreen fastest, in the shape of former NASA engineer, Mark Rober.

His six minute video explains the science behind clearing condensation and says the optimum method can clear the screen in half the time compared to others. The conclusion is perhaps not surprising, with the following setting recommended;
  • Defroster fan on highest setting
  • Temperature control on its hottest
  • A/C turned on
  • Internal air recirculation turned off
  • Windows slightly open
Rober provides some tips on preventing condensation such as a sock full of cat litter on the dash and also finds that applying shaving foam to the inside of the screen can have the same effect as an anti-fog liquid. One thing that he does not mention is that to clear the windscreen as quickly and as efficiently as possible it is essential to have a properly functioning cabin filter.
