BMW tops European BEV sales league for the first time

BMW enjoyed a surge in electric vehicle sales across Europe in July, meaning it was able to oust Tesla from top spot in battery electric vehicle sales for the first time.
BMW reported 14,869 BEV sales in July up 35% on the 2023 figure. Meanwhile Tesla EVs clocked up sales of 14,561, 16% down on 2023.
Overall battery electric vehicle sales were 6% down across Europe in July compared to 2023.
