Special finish are increasing common on new bespoke vehicles, but a recent offering from the Rolls-Royce's Bespoke Collective has taken custom paintwork to a whole new level.

The Rolls-Royce Spectre Lunaflair is destined for an American client who requested a special finish which was inspired by a lunar halo effect, where moonlight is refracted by ice particles around cirrus clouds creating a multicoloured ring.

Rolls Royce craftsmen spent a year trying to create the right effect and eventually came up with a  seven layer coating that includes magnesium fluoride, pearl and aluminium-flaked rainbow paint. The final finish is holographic and changes colour depending on light and direction.

The car also has a bespoke interior and Rolls Royce say it will be a strict one off colour that will never be used on another model.
