Audi, Amazon and DHL are teaming up to create a new system where online purchases are delivered straight to the boot of your car.

Online shopping is soaring in popularity but one issue that discourages many potential buyers is the fact that they are not at home to accept deliveries.  Audi drivers in Munich now have a solution to the problem, and it could go global if the trials prove a success.

Amazon Prime shoppers need to give a rough vehicle location and a preferred delivery time and then given permission by the owner, DHL delivery agents will have the ability to temporarily track Audi’s with keyless entry.  The delivery agent is then given one-time keyless access to the boot of the car.

Michael Pasch, Director of EU Amazon Prime said, "We are working to offer Prime members a delivery location that is always available and convenient."

Audi says the system is very secure and there are no insurance implications as the delivery agent cannot gain access to vehicle cabin.
