Hamilton’s Auto Electrics recently tackled a problem with a Volvo S60, where air was not reaching the inside of the windscreen. The problem was found to be a faulty motor. The component itself is little bigger than a large matchbox, but gaining access to it was another matter. After carefully diagnosing the issue, researching the repair requirements and exploring all options, the team at Hamilton’s concluded this was a dreaded “dash out” job.
Many even experienced repairers would shy away from such a job, but with the Hamilton team’s experience, know-how and attention to detail, the job was completed perfectly in less than a day. It is not until you see the the video below and that you realise just how complex and challenging this job was.
For Hamilton’s Auto Electric such jobs are all in a day’s work. The company was first established in 1959, by Dave Hamilton the father of the present owner Alan Hamilton. Over the years the company has established a reputation for completing auto electrical repairs that many workshops would normally turn away and in the process has built up a very healthy trade business with garages and bodyshops right across the Dublin area and beyond.
Alan Hamilton comments, “In the past the auto electrical side of the motor trade has often been overlooked, but with vehicle electrical systems growing in complexity it is a sector that is becoming more important than ever. Everyday garages and even some dealerships often lack the in-depth electrical knowledge and experience to diagnose and tackle vehicle electrical issues, so we provide an efficient and reliable service for both motorists and the trade.”
Alan points out that Hamilton’s specialise in finding cost effective solutions to electrical issues, getting to the bottom of often complicated problems and avoiding the unnecessary replacement of parts. He says, “We use our expertise and the latest fault finding and diagnostics equipment to identify issues quickly and accurately before conducting repairs. This ensures that we only make repairs or replacements to the parts that actually need it, saving time and keeping costs down.”
Working alongside Alan for tjhe past 18 years is Zoly Kerkes and both have a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in areas such as alternators and starters, engine management, ABS, airbags, central locking, electrical accessories, battery issues and climate control, to name just a few. The company prides itself on not turning work away and will repair any make or model of car or light commercial, including anything from the latest plug-in hybrids to vintage and classic vehicles.
To keep up with the fast moving pace of vehicle electrics, Alan is constantly investing in upskilling and training of staff and the latest tools and equipment. In this way he can ensure that Hamilton’s Auto Electric can continue to tackle the toughest electrical issues on all types of car.
