Headlamp restoration offers a convenient and cost effective way of restoring plastic headlamp lenses to clear “like new” condition and one of the most popular and cost effective kits for the job is the Headlight Lens Restoration Kit from E-TECH.

This kit offers a quick and easy solution to remove cloudy and yellow discolouration as well as any oxidisation marks, dull spots, scuffs and fine scratches and returns headlight lenses back to a clear condition. The kit is popular with both DIY users and workshops and can provide motor trade businesses with an additional income stream.

Most headlights are manufactured from strong clear plastic which comes with a protective surface coating. The coating is permanently under attack from road grime, stone chips, exposure to UV rays, chemicals and extreme weather conditions. In time the coating wears off the lens surface which then starts to discolour and become cloudy and yellowed.

The yellowing not only looks unsightly, but can also have a negative effect on safety. This is because the light is reduced and this impacts on visibility for the driver, while the reduced light output also makes the vehicle hard to see at night. In some instances a cloudy headlamp lens can also cause NCT failure.

The E-TECH restoration kit contains everything required to restore 2 headlight lenses. It can also be used on rear lights and includes full application instructions, which show different process depending on the level of discolouration. The Kit contents include a sanding drill attachment, polishing pads, hand sanding pad, various grades of sanding discs, Lens Restoration Compound, Restored Headlight Clear Coat Aerosol, gloves and an instruction booklet.

The E-TECH Restored Headlight Clear Coat is a unique clear coat lacquer specially formulated to be the final stage for any plastic/ polycarbonate headlight lens restoration. It replaces the original discoloured cloudy top layer that will have been removed during the restoration process. Once applied the clear coat dries to a hard long lasting, chip resistant, durable finish that acts as a barrier sealing the surface and resisting UV rays and future deterioration. The product can also be bought separately from the kit and is unlike many other liquid solutions that that wash off and need reapplying on a regular basis.

You can see a demonstration of the kit in use below.

The E-TECH Headlight Lens Restoration Kit and other E-Tech products are available from stockists nationwide.
