Brake supplier Mintex is launching a new range of coated brake discs for the aftermarket.

TMD Friction’s engineering department has worked to develop and refine the formula for the coating to ensure the brake discs have the optimum micron thickness and chemical make up that  allows gas from the friction surface to escape and not impede the braking performance.

“It is very easy to make the coating too thick or of the incorrect chemical make up which can have a detrimental effect on the pads and disc’s performance if the gas, which is produced by the heat during braking, cannot escape,” comments Lawrence Bleasdale, Sales Director of Mintex. “With more than 100 years’ experience in refining and evolving braking technology, we have been working for some time to develop the perfect formula for a coated brake disc for the Mintex brand

Mintex says that made to OE quality, the coated brake discs will still deliver Mintex’s unrivalled braking performance as well as being easy to install.

The new discs offer a long-lasting smarter appearance due to enhanced corrosion protection, making them ideal for alloy wheels. Initially available in 38 part numbers, they are precision engineered to match a car’s original braking system as well as complementing the wide range of Mintex brake pads.
