Ignition specialist NGK is reinforcing its motorsport pedigree by sponsoring Strakka Racing, a team competing in the prestigious Blancpain GT Series in 2018.

As part of the agreement the leading supplier of original equipment spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda and other engine management sensors, will have its NGK logo emblazoned on an iconic McLaren GT3 race as it competes on some of Europe’s leading circuits.

NGK has long been at the forefront of motorsport, supplying its racing plugs for many four-wheel teams and drivers, including competitors in Formula One and the World Rally Championship. Now it has announced it is partnering Strakka Racing in the Blancpain GT Series as it competes in the championship on circuits that include Monza in Italy, Paul Ricard, France, Germany’s Nürburgring and Britain’s Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

Mark Hallam, NGK Spark Plugs said, “We are delighted to be partnering Strakka Racing in the Blancpain GT Series and to be associated with such a dream car as the McLaren GT3. The series is extremely popular and enjoys a strong TV and online audience as well as attracting tens of thousands of followers on Social Media. As well as the livery on the McLaren GT3, we will also have our branding on the team’s clothing, racing overalls and on track pit walls.”

Mark added, “NGK has a long and illustrious pedigree in supplying our racing plugs to a number of top drivers and teams competing at the highest levels of motorsport competition and this is just the latest example. Drivers and teams know that they can rely on our components to perform in the most arduous of racing conditions and we are looking forward to helping Strakka Racing throughout the 2018 season.”

Strakka Racing is a highly professional team which is factory supported by McLaren and uses McLaren factory drivers. A winner of the famous Le Mans 24-hour race in LMP2 2010, it runs two different teams and four cars, taking part in two different categories. The agreement will see NGK as the main sponsor of the McLaren GT3 competing in the Pro category with three other cars also carrying the company’s branding.

The 10-race series starts at the Paul Ricard Circuit on March 13 and 14, 2018 and ends in Barcelona on September 29/30.
