The Schaeffler TriFinity wheel bearing has been nominated for the Automechanika Frankfurt 2024 Innovation Award in the ‘Parts and Innovative Technologies’ category, a prestigious award which honours pioneering innovations in the industry.

From a record number of more than 150 applications, a 17-member international jury decided which applications would go through to the next round.

The Schaeffler TriFinity wheel bearing is a state-of-the-art, low friction wheel bearing specifically developed for use in electrified vehicles, contributing to the development of sustainable mobility ecosystems.

Electric vehicles typically have a higher weight and torque demand compared to conventional drive variants. The Schaeffler TriFinity wheel bearing meets these increased demands with three ball rows, instead of the usual two, which allows for higher axle loads while minimising friction, weight, and noise. It offers improved longevity and friction reduction compared to conventional two-row ball bearings, increasing the range of electric vehicles and reducing CO2- emissions in internal combustion engines.

Jens Schüler, CEO of Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions commented, “This nomination is an acknowledgement of our strategy to make a positive contribution to the future of mobility through innovative solutions and technological advancements. The Schaeffler TriFinity wheel bearing is the only triple-row ball bearing on the market. Lower friction and weight but with greater torque transmission and range, as well as a longer lifespan, makes it more efficient than conventional wheel bearings. It showcases our efforts to increase efficiency and sustainability in the automotive industry.”

Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions will be presenting at Automechanika 2024 from September 10th to 14th at the Frankfurt Messe, with the theme of “Sustaining Motion. Pioneering Future”. The company will showcase its latest developments and technologies at stand A01 in the Forum Level 0, where visitors can look forward to some exciting demonstrations and presentations that bring the future of mobility to life.
