Stay safe and secure with febi Door and Tailgate Locks
Share:

Locks on vehicles perform a vital function, but are very much taken for granted. Because of frequent use they are subject to wear and sometimes failure, which can be very inconvenient, as well as compromising the security of the vehicle.

German parts specialist febi offers a comprehensive range of replacement locks, with excellent availability through local motor factors and competitive prices. This can often offer garages a more economical and convenient solution when it comes to lock replacement.

When the central locking function is activated either by the press of a button or the proximity of the key to the vehicle, a signal is sent from the body control module to the door or tailgate lock actuator where the energy of a small electric motor is converted by a series of gears and linkages into linear motion. This force is then transferred to the lock mechanism, moving the latch and either releasing the door/tailgate or securing it in a closed position. Often functioning multiple times a day, the delicate mechanism in door and tailgate locks is prone to wear and potential failure.

The febi replacement lock range features over 160 door locks and more than 30 tailgate locks. These offer anti-corrosion protection on all metal components, plus high-quality thermoplastic is used for improved performance.

All febi door and tailgate locks are stress-tested for 10,000 operations using specialised equipment, helping to ensure OE standards are met and outstanding product quality is maintained. High-quality thermoplastic polyester elastomer is used in moving parts for improved flexibility, abrasive resistance and noise control.

Metal parts are treated with zinc-nickel alloy for anti-corrosion protection, while actuators, micro-switches and circuit boards are sealed, protecting electrical components. High-quality tact switches guarantee smooth operation and minimise electrical failures. Circuit boards are also insulated for the safety and stability of operation, preventing electrical interference.

Full details of the febi locks range can be found in the partsfinder online catalogue.
