US electric car maker Tesla Motors has granted approval for Glasurit's refinish products for its global bodyshop network. The waterborne Glasurit 90 Line paint system was said to have performed outstandingly in numerous tests with Tesla's vehicles. The high-level colour expertise, along with a comprehensive portfolio of training opportunities and services in the Glasurit's package of support for Tesla Motors were also key factors in the choice.
As BASF's premium brand, Glasurit benefits from the system solutions the company offers top car manufacturers worldwide, from the development of innovative automotive colours to the implementation of new application techniques. BASF is also a partner at Tesla's state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Fremont, California. At this site, the Coatings division's advanced application technology is used to complement the processes in order to guarantee the high quality standards for OEM coating. Tesla's drive to constantly integrate the latest technology and techniques, together with ecological sustainability, was also the deciding factor for granting global approval for Glasurit's waterborne 90 Line paint system for refinishing.
In Europe, some large Tesla partner bodyshops already use Glasurit refinishing products. One of them is the famous French bodyshop “Carrosserie Lecoq” (part of the Albax Group), which offers its services throughout France. Other Glasurit bodyshops will join the list as approved Tesla bodyshops. Tesla Motors says it will continue to grow and is looking for additional highly professional bodyshops that the Glasurit network can offer.
