3M is a company that has always placed a strong emphasis on having a staff team with great experience and long service with the company, but even by its impressive standards, the service record of Trevor Doyle stands out. Trevor is now in his 35th year with 3M and it is a testament to both the company and his own commitment that he still maintains great drive and enthusiasm for his work after so many years.
Trevor is the Area Manager for in the North of Ireland with his territory including Monaghan and Donegal. He says, “3M is a great company to work for. We have a world renowned product range, which is constantly being up-dated to meet the changing demand of the repair market.” He adds, “The Company is also excellent in providing training, so that I’m always fully aware of the latest developments and the benefits of new 3M innovations as they are introduced.”
During his time with the company Trevor says he has seen many product changes, but believes the pace of change with regards to new bodyshop technology, has increased considerably in recent years. He comments, “The market is developing more rapidly than ever and this means that 3M is constantly updating its range to cope with the demands of new paint and materials and different repair techniques.”
Trevor points out that 3M’s commitment to R&D means its range is always being updated with genuine new innovations, which means they are usually ahead of the game when it comes to new products and with 3M’s good reputation, customers will always be prepared to try them.
Trevor says, “Customers know 3M and associate it with quality and efficiency, so they are always prepared to try new products as we add them to the range. Once they try something new they generally see the benefits in terms of improved efficiency and cost saving.” Trevor’s own experience also plays a key role when it comes to the introduction of new innovations, having built up relationships of trust over his 35 years experience.
Recent times have of course seen price become a key concern for bodyshops, but Trevor says it is not the face value price but the value a product provides that is most important to progressive repairers. He says, “If a product can get a job done faster and easier, then customers are prepared to pay a little extra. They also recognise that quality is key and they know they can rely on 3M to provide this.”
The innovation, quality and value provided by 3M has been reflected in some very significant new line introductions throughout 2013. Trevor says that 3M Flexible sheets and Trizact 6000 discs have been especially well received. He also says the recently updated Colour Check Light, which provides a source of virtual daylight for checking paint finish, is proving very popular with customers.
