A faster finish from Standox

Greater paintshop efficiency and reduced key to key times are common buzz words that you will often hear in relation to bodyshop operations. But for the bodyshop that is rarely flat out and full to capacity does getting the job done faster really matter? One paint supplier in Ireland says the answer to this question is a firm yes and it is keen to show Irish refinishers the benefits of its latest highly effective refinish technology.

2016 was a year of growth for the Standox brand in Ireland and Sales Manager David Dempsey believe much of this was down to the speed and efficiency of the latest Standox products. He says, "We developed a lot of new business by showing a bodyshop how it could reduce job times and provide a finish of outstanding quality. We were also able to show how many of our product could deliver significant job cost savings.”

At the centre of developments has been Standocryl VOC-Xtreme Clear K9580, an ultra fast clearcoat that dries in just five minutes at 60°C while delivering extraordinary gloss, extreme hardness and a very good depth. Using a different hardener the product also dries in less than an hour at just 20°C and using this option avoids heating the spray booth meaning a potentially huge reduction in energy costs. David says, "The booth running costs are something that can often be overlooked, but have a huge impact on the bottom line. Using Xtreme clear, with no booth heating, can slash these costs and make any bodyshop more profitable.”

David also points out that Standox offer other time and cost saving products throughout the refinish process and especially in wet on wet primers. He comments, "In one bodyshop we were able to show how a repair process that would normally take two and a half hours could be carried out using the latest Standox products, including Xtreme Clear, in just 52 minutes.”

The scale of such time savings in any bodyshop can open up many more opportunities to take on extra business as well as reducing costs and making every repair more profitable.

David says, "The latest Standox technology really can revolutionise the way a bodyshop works and we are very keen to show repairers how we can help their business.”
