The new Honda Civic due out in Europe early next year, will feature an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and a front-mounted polygonal frame.
Honda says that this will prevent the cabin becoming deformed, by distributing forces away from the passenger compartment. The new structure was developed and tested at Honda’s advanced crash test facility in Tochigi, Japan, where the new car was purposely crashed into other vehicles of different weights and sizes, and at different angles and speeds. Honda’s Mitsuru Kariya, Civic Development Leader, believes the new model will offer the best ‘real world’ safety available for car buyers in the C-segment.
