Garages looking to offer Advanced Driver Assistance System calibration and DPF cleaning services, but are not in a position to make the major equipment investment involved, can now take advantage of a new initiative offered by Martin’s Garage in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.
Martin and his team have a wealth of experience in the motor industry, not only in service and repair, but also in specialist areas such as ADAS, DPFs, ECU programming and auto electronics.
Martin comments, “Two common issues for drivers are clogged DPFs and the need to recalibrate ADAS systems. We have made all the necessary investments in equipment and training to offer these services and we make these available not only to our own customers, but also other garages and bodyshops. It really does not make sense for a workshop to send their customers away dissatisfied, so by using our services they can keep their customers happy and open up new business opportunities.”
Advanced driver-assistance systems are now common on newer vehicles and these delicate components often need recalibration. Martin explains, “There is a perception that calibration is only required after a major accident. In fact ADAS often needs to be calibrated after hitting a kerb or speed ramp, certain mechanical work on a car, especially steering and suspension, or sometimes even a change of tyres. If the system is not correctly calibrated it is not working safely and this can be a danger to the driver, passengers and other road users.”
Martin has invested in the latest Brain Bee calibration system to offer fast and accurate digital calibration on any vehicle. Garages can simply drop a car off, or have it calibrated while they wait and then return it to their customer.
DPF issues are some of the most common problems on diesel cars. When filters become clogged, normal or forced regeneration is often not sufficient to clear a blockage. With new DPFs expensive and time consuming to replace, specialist cleaning can provide an economical solution.
Martin comments, “We have specialist equipment that uses a hydrodynamic method in combination with XTON DPF CLEANER chemicals to remove carbon deposits and heavy metals, often without the need to dismantle. It restores the DPF to up to 99.8% of its original efficiency, helping vehicles to run smoothly and pass emission test. It is a service we now provide to many other workshops, allowing them to retain business and save their customers money.”
