Ariel reveals ultra lightweight EV
Share:

If you thought that EVs were generally heavy and perhaps a little dull when it comes to excitement both on the road, off the road, or on the track, here is a new model that might make you think again. It is from Somerset special vehicle manufacturer, Ariel Motor Company and is an ultra lightweight EV based on their Nomad design.

The new EV, which was recently shown for the first time, is said to be near production ready and should be available in 2026.

The E-Nomad is all about weight reduction, so dispenses with many body panels. The go-anywhere two seater vehicle also utilises many ultra light construction materials. It’s motor produces 281 hp, which is a lot for a car that weights just 896 kg.

Designed to be a fun weekend vehicle the E-Nomad has a small battery and limited range of around 150 miles, but can charge in just 25 minutes. For now Ariel are refining the design and testing the car to develop its agility and handing. They will monitor consumer reaction and hope to launch the car with 2 years.
