Audatex has released the fourth in a series of e-books that show how technology is transforming the vehicle repair industry. The eBooks have been unearthing the results and findings of independent research, conducted with over 200 independent and franchised UK bodyshops. The fourth and final eBook focuses on Technology and Knowledge.
Audatex says that lack of consistency in information from leading industry data providers, independent technology training consultants and vehicle manufacturers has been significantly magnified due to the complexity of the vehicle technology. Not only do these technological developments place bodyshops under pressure, but it places further scrutiny on the overall supply chain relationship between repairers and those supplying the data.
Access to data was highlighted as a key issue in the research and 74% of respondents said they would subscribe to a central information hub that consolidates data in one location. Almost all bodyshops said they would like to receive technology updates and vehicle repair information from suppliers, yet less than half are currently getting these.
The latest eBook looks at the types of services bodyshops within the industry are receiving from suppliers, what they would actually like to receive and how they would rate them in terms of features being used. It also outline how technology can provide an opportunity for suppliers to share knowledge and information with its bodyshops in a more streamlined manner.
