With garages allowed to fully reopen from Monday May 18th, in our latest

video interview, Verona Ellis of Autobiz spoke to Des Golden, of Des Golden Specialist Cars, in Cork, about the preparations his garage has been making.

Des explains about the precautions being put in place in terms of cleaning and sanitizing of the premises and social distancing in the workshop, as well as the plan for contactless vehicle drop off and collection, including the cleaning of the vehicle, both prior to entering the workshop and before return to the customers.

He then talks about some of the issues he expects to be presented with from next week due to prolonged vehicle lay-ups, or infrequent short journey use, especially in relations to batteries, DPFs and tyres.

Des also touches on the importance of the NCT coming back on line as soon as possible, with appropriate procedures and staff PPE in place to make this happen. He then strikes an optimistic note, saying how he expects garages to become very busy, very quickly, because of pent up demand and how giving customer confidence that the right steps are being taken to protect them and their vehicle will be vital.
