Axalta Coating Systems, the company behind the Spies Hecker, Standox and Cromax brands in Ireland is supporting five different teams competing in this year’s Formula Student competition, an internationally recognised motorsports programme for students from universities around the world. The competition brings teams together to develop, design and construct racing car prototypes, gaining valuable practical engineering and scientific experience.

Matthias Schönberg, Vice President of Axalta and President for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, said, “The students participating in Formula Student learn the importance of team work and have the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. We support them in this important step in their educational journey and believe in investing in our future engineers.”

Axalta technicians helped the students paint various components of the vehicles, including the chassis of both classes of race cars, Formula Student Combustion and Formula Student Electric.
