The ball joint (which is also known as a frip joint) are common failures in Peugeots and Citroëns, due to water ingress into the bearing, causing rusting and premature failure.
Problems may arise when replacing these ball joints. During the removal of the failed ball joint, it is common for the inner race to remain attached to the wheel hub. This then causes fitment problems when the new febi ball joint (28355 or 38490) is fitted. It is imperative to ensure that the full ball joint, including the inner race, is fully removed from the wheel hub.
The hub must be thoroughly cleaned before fitting the new febi ball joint ProKit, which comes with a protection cap to help stop future water ingress.
