The ball joint (which is also known as a frip joint) are common failures in Peugeots and Citroëns, due to water ingress into the bearing, causing rusting and premature failure.
Problems may arise when replacing these ball joints. During the removal of the failed ball joint, it is common for the inner race to remain attached to the wheel hub.
