It is now just over a year since two Irish owned refinish supply companies came together to provide the bodyshop sector with a comprehensive range of products and support. BDM, a specialist coatings company headed up by the respected industry figure David Dempsey, joined forces with the long established Dublin based paint and consumables supplier Lacquerman, to offer a new nationwide alternative in the painting and repair sector. It is move that has met with widespread approval, reflected in a fast growing customer base right across Ireland.

David comments, “Many bodyshops have been telling us that the support and back-up they receive from major paint companies has been reduced in recent years and that in particular on the ground support based in Ireland is often difficult to access. We set out to offer Irish refinishers a locally based service with technical support on the ground that can respond quickly to customer needs.” David adds, “Time is money in the bodyshop environment, so we aim to offer swift and effective technical and colour support from a trusted and experienced team.”

David says that with Lacquerman’s extensive Dublin customer base and BDMs network of national contacts, the company can offer nationwide coverage, with the benefit of locally held stock and a Dublin based colour support facility, something that many bodyshops highly value.

As well as support and expertise, the partnership has also brought together an impressive product line-up that includes many well known brands, such as Mipa and 3M. It can also offer access to Axalta products. In addition the company is the Irish distributor for Helios Europe which offers a wide range of automotive and industrial paints. This includes GRAVIHEL, a professional binder mixing system that offers amazing finish flexibility and colour variation from a compact stock holding.

Also, on offer is the Catalfer range of refinish products, abrasives and accessories which can provide bodyshops with access to a cost effective consumable solution, plus innovative products such as a UV primer that can be dried in as little as 2-3 minutes, offering big time and cost savings.

BDM Coatings will be exhibiting at the Bus and Coach Show which takes place at the RDS on November 19th and 20th.
