Kilkenny Welding Supplies (KWS) is one of Ireland's leading suppliers of welding equipment and consumables, to the engineering and industrial sectors. Up until recently, the company did not service the accident repair sector, but that has changed and bodyshops around Ireland can now access the impressive KWS product range and back up services.

KWS was founded in 1974 and today has over thirty staff at branches in Kilkenny, Portlaoise and Clonmel. It has great expertise in the welding sector and works in long established partnerships with many of the leading equipment brands such Fronius and Telwin.

Nigel Sheehan of KWS explains why they have moved into the bodyshop sector. He comments, “We became aware of an increased demand for welding equipment in bodyshops brought on by changing vehicle design and technology, plus initiatives such as the Certified Steel Standard.” He adds, “Drawing on our own welding experience and our suppliers expertise, we have put together an equipment range to satisfy all types of bodyshop welding needs.”

Both Telwin and Fronius have welding systems designed for accident repairers, which are endorsed by many leading car manufacturers. KWS has already made a number of successful equipment installations. Nigel says, “One of our most recent installations was made at Smith and Branigan in Lucan. They have been absolutely delighted with the equipment, a Telwin Inverspotter 14000 and it has been instrumental in helping them achieve CSS accreditation.”

KWS has a dedicated welding demonstration facility at its Portlaoise outlet, where prospective customers can go to see the equipment in action. Demonstrations can also be organised at customer premises. On-going support is of course vital when it comes to welding and KWS offer a full equipment warranty and provide their own full maintenance and repair service, holding a vast range of spares in stock at all times. The company can also supply all the required welding consumables.

Nigel comments, “We are approaching forty years in business and during that time we have provided a first class service to the engineering and industrial sectors, building up a very strong and loyal customer base.” He adds, “We now want to bring our expert service, welding experience and quality equipment to the bodyshop sector.”
