Bosch always has a major presence at Automechanika and this year was no exception, with a huge stand taking up a large part of Hall 9. This reflected the range and diversity of the products and services on offer, which cover hard parts, workshop equipment and vehicle diagnostics.

Mark Heard, Marketing Manager for Bosch Automotive Aftermarket was able to give Autobiz a run-down of some of the products and innovations on display. These included the new Bosch Aerotwin Plus wiper blade range featuring Bosch’s Power Protection Plus (P.P.P) wiper rubber with a patented coating. The range now has a new adapter system, which means quick and simple installation and 93% market coverage from just 15 part numbers.

Also being launched on the stand was new packaging for Bosch replacement parts with the Bosch corporate blue now the predominant colour, while black packaging in the future will signify premium grade products.

The new Bosch battery range and the extensive range of Bosch battery testing equipment were also attracting considerable interest. Mark says, "Battery testing is a great way to unlock the huge sales potential for garages in the battery sector. For example, a recent survey of 100 vehicles found 17 had battery faults and 13 required a new battery.” He added, "With Bosch battery testing equipment you can quickly and easily test a battery and also produce a printout for the customer. It is an added service that customers really appreciate and can save them the huge inconvenience of a breakdown.”

Diagnostic equipment was of course centre of attention on the Bosch stand with many new products and initiatives introduced. One of these was the DCU 220 (Diagnostic Control Unit) new hardware suitable for control of Bosch test and diagnostic systems such as the KTS series. The robust unit can be used as a notebook or as a tablet with full touch screen capability.

New innovations in the relation to fast and cost effective diagnostics were also on display in the shape of the Bosch OBD 100 and 150 Diagnosis Testers. These compact devices are suitable for all cars with an EOBD-compliant diagnostic connection and provide easy reading of error codes, sensor and vehicle data.

Alan Greene and Michael Breslin from Origo, the Bosch distributors in Ireland, were at Automechanika to see all of the latest Bosch developments and innovations. Alan commented, "As always there are lots of developments happening with Bosch parts and equipment and in particular the range of diagnostic equipment and services is expanding to keep the independent aftermarket in tune with the latest vehicle technology.” He added, "We will be introducing many of these exciting new developments over the coming months so that Bosch customers in Ireland can continue to enhance their service.”
