Lubricants from LIQUI MOLY help to save fuel and thus contribute to CO2 reductions. The company has now also made its packaging more environmentally friendly. The new bag-in-box packaging offers very significant environmental benefits compared to conventional 20-liter plastic canisters. This means significantly less plastic waste and the box also fits into the LIQUI MOLY oil cabinet.
The exterior of the new bag-in-box packaging consists of coated, waterproof cardboard. It contains a fully recyclable plastic bag, which uses 90 percent less plastic than a conventional 20-liter canister. For garages this means a significantly lower volume of waste is being produced.
During the development phase, when it came to storage in the garage, a key requirement was that the bag-in-box should fit in the LIQUI MOLY oil cabinet. “After all, thousands of garages all over the world use this tried-and-tested organization and storage system and should not have to buy an additional or alternative one,” says LIQUI MOLY Managing Director Günter Hiermaier.
Even before LIQUI MOLY fills the additional packaging variant, it has already demonstrated its sustainability credentials. "While a lot of freight space is wasted when transporting empty plastic canisters to our oil production facilities, the same number of folded bag-in-box packages take up a fraction of the space. This makes logistics more efficient," says Günter Hiermaier. Even when filled with oil, the new container scores points compared to the pure plastic canister when it comes to the space required on a pallet.
The new packaging concept is being introduced over the coming months.
