One of the most popular series ever to race at Mondello Park is back for 2015 with the return of the MSA British Rallycross Championship.
The Rallycross Supercars will return to the County Kildare track for two championship rounds on Saturday and Sunday June 27th and 28th and the event will also count as two rounds of the Irish Rallycross Championship.
Over the past couple of seasons the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group has gone from strength to strength and now regularly boasts Supercar grids which are well into double figures. The visitors won't have it all their own way however as the locals will be keen to come out on top in this Ireland V's UK battle.
Already confirmed as visitors for the Mondello Park rounds are Mad Mark in his Citroën Xsara and London based Irishman Ollie O'Donovan driving his new Ford Fiesta, while Steve Hill will bring his Mitsubishi Evo10. Looking to uphold local honour will be the Fiestas of Thomas O'Rafferty and Declan Kelly, recent Rallycross convert Geoffrey Dolan with his ex Christopher Evans Astra and Noel Greene with his Mitsubishi, along with the rest of the growing Irish Supercar contingent. Additions to the Round 4 and 5 line-up will be announced over the coming weeks including some star local drivers who will join the series for the Mondello Park event.
The two wheel drive UK Super Nationals are also producing strong fields with many of the cars almost as quick as the Supercars. A large travelling contingent will be bolstered by Ireland's finest and the UK V's Ireland battle should be even hotter here than in the Supercars. Local hero Tommy Graham with his Escort will lead the Irish trying to stem the British invasion, but there are many more locals who are also capable of figuring at the head of the field.
Tickets for the British Rallycross at Mondello Park will be available shortly, at discounted rates, from www.mondellopark.ie. Additional information, including the event format, line-up and timetable will also be available on the site over the coming weeks.
