Car mechanics for the TikTok generation Sydney Sweeney and her Ford Bronco

With the challenges of attracting more young recruits to the automotive industry well documented, one quick way of changing perceptions of the industry, is through social media.

This is something that actor Sydney Sweeney has been doing, by showing her love of cars to her 1.6 million TikTok followers.

Sydney is well known for roles in TV and film including hit shows, The White Lotus, Euphoria and The Handmaid’s Tale. She comes from a family of mechanics and loves to spend time in the workshop. She created her @Syds_Garage Tik Tok channel in 2021, with the intention of showing her progress restoring a 1969 Ford Bronco. Her short videos have now developed such a following that she will shortly start making tutorial videos, for the Ford Motor Company.

Sydney hopes that working with Ford, which will also see the development of a new workwear line, will encourage a wider audience to take an interest in the mechanical side of their vehicles. She commented, “This campaign is very genuine to me, through my Auto 101 series and the female-forward workwear collection, I hope to empower and uplift women to pursue their passions, to get involved in the world of cars, and show that anyone can follow their dreams, no matter what they are!”
