An advanced formulation, anti-corrosion coating that allows direct fitment from box to axle is one of the notable features and benefits of Comline’s coated brake discs and one of many that are illustrated in the brand’s eye-catching new video.

The water-based coating is applied to all areas of the disc, including the hub and friction surface, to a maximum thickness of 25 microns to ensure effective rust protection. This feat is achieved thanks to a nine-stage process that culminates in a massive 240 hours of salt-spray testing – equivalent to a decade of on-vehicle exposure to the elements!

Complementing the enviable reputation of Comline’s brake pads and following meticulous analysis of the vehicle parc in Ireland to meet current trends, more than 1,000 European, Japanese, and Korean coated brake disc references are currently available from Comline Ireland in Monaghan.

As Comline’s coated brake discs can be fitted immediately, right out of the box, technicians need not worry about the cleaning or degreasing process that is normally associated with more traditional, non-coated options. A professional replacement of a brake disc can therefore be completed in rapid time, improving workshop efficiency, and with full confidence in delivering immediate and responsive stopping power to the motorist.

On the topic of coated disc stopping capabilities, Comline’s braking expert, Dr Keith Ellis, warmly known as ‘Dr Friction’, admitted that adding a coating to the friction surface may appear “counterintuitive” but was quick to explain the logic behind the design. “This specialised coating dissipates during early use. With our coated discs, the brakes need only be applied on a handful of occasions before the specialised coating fades away to expose the braking surface. With zero impact on braking performance and the added benefit of not having to degrease the disc, the benefits are clear. The vehicle owner will also doubtless be impressed by the premium aesthetics, which are the perfect complement when sat behind a contemporary alloy wheel.”

Keith believes these elements combined, coupled with the brand’s value proposition, serve to make Comline coated brake discs a compelling product offering.
