Sligo Rovers have announced the renewal of the partnership agreement with main sponsors Connolly's Volkswagen for the next three seasons.

The announcement was made by Sligo Rovers chairman Tony Quinn, Paul O'Sullivan, Head of marketing Volkswagen and Neil Connolly of Connolly's Volkswagen in The Showgrounds.

The agreement, the most lucrative in the history of the club, comes after two hugely successful years for the Bit O' Red and Connolly's under the original agreement between the parties.

Sligo Rovers chairman Tony Quinn said: "In 2012 we began an excellent relationship with Neil and Kevin Connolly of Connolly's Volkswagen and CEO of the VW Group Simon Elliott. The partnership proved the perfect fit. We have worked extremely hard together over the last two years to bring success to Sligo Rovers and are delighted that it has also seen Connolly's and Volkswagen thrive in the local and Irish markets.

"The core values of Sligo Rovers and Connolly's VW are extremely similar. We share loyalty, perseverance and a willingness to be the best we can.  Today's new agreement brings about another chapter for the club. We feel ready to explore even more avenues together and are excited by the prospects of at least another three years to try and achieve even more results."

Connolly Sligo Dealer Principal Neil Connolly commented:  "Here at Connollys we pride ourselves on supporting the local community and on excellence and with the sponsorship of Sligo Rovers this is something that gives us immense pride so it wasn't a difficult decision to renew this deal. Just like Sligo Rovers, we feel our dealership and the Volkswagen brand is very much part of the local community" said Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough said: "In my time with the club Connolly's
Volkswagen has played a critical part of ensuring we are well-equipped on the field. They have given us fantastic support and we are proud to associate with them. We are looking forward to continuing that over the next three seasons.

According to Volkswagen Ireland CEO Simon Elliott: "We are delighted that Connolly's Volkswagen Sligo have renewed their sponsorship of Sligo Rovers. Here at Volkswagen Ireland we are strong supporters of the League of Ireland and look forward to success for both Sligo Rovers on the pitch and Connolly's with their sponsorship off of it".
