Delphi has made a significant first-to-market brake parts release, with brake pads, shoes and discs for cars and vans from major vehicle manufacturers including Ford, Volkswagen and Toyota. Vehicles from a total of seven manufacturers are included with Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Mazda and Porsche also covered.

The first-to-market release includes braking components for a number of electric cars, including Ford’s Capri and Mustang Mach-E, reflecting rising EV sales. The burgeoning electric van parc is also catered for, with the Ford E-Transit, Mercedes-Benz eCitan EQT 200, Toyota Proace Max and VW ID.3 being covered.

High performance EV parts have also been included, with the Porsche Panamera gaining rear brake pads, which it shares with the 911. Many of the other parts released also cater for internal combustion engine vehicles and hybrids too, including the Mazda CX-80 and Toyota Camry in what has been a comprehensive braking parts release by Delphi.

“This first-to-market release reflects the complex mix of vehicles now seen on our roads,” said Carl Lester, Global Product Line Manager at Delphi. “EV sales continue to increase, but other engine types still make up a significant proportion of vehicles being sold, and that means garages will need access to a wide array of parts. This is what Delphi is providing to the aftermarket.”

EV brakes represent a major opportunity for garages as the increased weight of many EVs means that brake components are being put under greater strain than before, so garages need to make sure they are fitting the highest quality parts.

With EVs it is also not just about stopping power. Carl explains, “Regenerative braking through which kinetic energy from braking is converted into electrical energy that recharges the battery, is making braking part of the power system for the car. This means friction braking parts are also used less frequently and are becoming subject to corrosion. Only high-quality brake pads with high corrosion resistance like Delphi can perform under these conditions.”

Delphi is renowned for releasing first-to-market premium quality braking parts to the aftermarket, allowing workshops to generate additional revenue by accessing the repair business on newer vehicles sooner, increasing profitability and customer retention.
