The Drogheda Motor Dealers celebrate 6 years of bringing a motoring festival to the town of Drogheda this weekend.

A firm favourite on the events calendar of Drogheda, the Motor Dealers decided to introduce a new concept to keep the excitement going. They are delighted to announce the Drogheda Motor Weekender and want it to be a Drogheda Brand New Drive.

“We’re really excited to be able to put a major prize on the table too for one lucky new or used car buyer over the weekend.” said Frank Walsh, Drogheda Car Sales.

“We hope everyone gets behind the local motor industry this weekend for what is going to be a fantastic and fun few days.”

Some things have stayed the same; in fact, they've gotten bigger. Last year saw the inaugural ‘DESIGN A CAR – Schools Challenge’ with selected schools across Drogheda. The creativity and talent of local 5th and 6th classes was highlighted when 11 cars carved from wood by the Drogheda Men's Shed were transformed.

This year, the Drogheda Motor Dealers extended the invitation to 5 more schools. 5th and 6th classes are asked to design, colour, paint and decorate a 'car on canvas'.

The Dealers have again teamed up with the Men's Shed and they’ve created a beautifully sculptured custom made wooden frame for each school this year. Once submitted, their partnered Dealership will hang the design in their showrooms for the duration of the weekend for all to admire. Judging takes place over the weekend with the winner announced live on LMFM on Sunday.

In addition to the Schools Competition, the Dealers are offering a fantastic prize. Buy a new or used car on the Weekender weekend from one of the participating Drogheda Motor Dealerships and you’ll be entered into a cash draw with the chance of winning €5,000.

Extended opening hours for the weekend – Friday 10th June from 9am to 7pm, Saturday 11th June from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 12th June from 12noon to 5pm.

The Drogheda Motor Weekender event is supported by First Citizen Finance, Drogheda Chamber of Commerce and the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. Finance decisions are available throughout the event weekend.

Ireland's only Motor Weekender will have 11 Motor Dealerships participating in this year's show with 16 marques.
