This weekend the Drogheda Motor Show is back for the 5th year and will run in association with the Irish Maritime Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

The Drogheda Motor Show is firmly established in the events calendar of Drogheda. It offers buyers the chance to get expert advice on car features, ideal family cars, energy consumption and avail of great offers. It is the ideal place to visit if you’re thinking about or considering buying a new 152 car.

“As this is our 5th year, we wanted to do something to recognise it. We joked that wood is a traditional gift for a 5 year anniversary. We also wanted to reach out and get the community involved. We found the perfect marriage of wood and community involvement in the form of ‘DESIGN A CAR – Schools Challenge‘. It’s a competition for 5th and 6th class children to creatively design a car carved from wood by the Drogheda Men’s Shed.” explained Alan Reynolds, Brian Reynolds Mazda.

The inaugural ‘DESIGN A CAR – Schools Challenge’ will celebrate the imagination and creativity of 5th/ 6th classes across 11 primary schools in the Drogheda area. We are delighted to announce the participating local primary schools as – St. Joseph’s National School Mell, Cartown National School, St. Joseph’s CBS Sundays Gate, Scoil Naisiunta Tulach Aluinn, St. Paul’s Senior National School Rathmullen, Harestown National School Monasterboice, Presentation Primary School Ballymakenny, Marymount School Ballsgrove, Callystown National School Clogherhead, Walshestown National School Grangebellew, and Scoil Naomh Buithe Tinure. Each school’s car will be displayed alongside the 152 new models of the Dealership on Drogheda Port. The winning cars (1st, 2nd, 3rd) will win vouchers for their school from Opening Minds.

The motor show will have 8 Motor Dealerships participating in this year’s show with 11 marques. These are Brian Reynolds Car Sales (Mazda), Smiths of Drogheda (Ford), Malones Garage (Toyota), Jack Doran Motors (Kia and Citroen), Conachy’s Garage (Seat), Blackstone Motors (Renault & Dacia), Western Motors (Volkswagen & Skoda) and Holcroft Motors (Peugeot).

With the 152 licence plate coming out in July, there will be superb finance offers available on the weekend.

“We’re delighted to be associated again with the Irish Maritime Festival. It was a huge success last year and thousands came to both the Motor Show and the Festival. It just shows, when we all work together, anything is possible. I’m encouraging all Droghedians to come down once again, speak to the dealers, check out the different cars, avail of the deals to be had and enjoy themselves.” said John Malone, Malones Garage Toyota.

The Show is sponsored by First Citizen Finance and supported by Drogheda & District Chamber of Commerce and the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
