Craig Breen and his co-driver Paul Nagle scored an excellent fourth place in the Arctic Rally Finland.
This was round two of the championship and the Waterford native was in the hunt throughout the event after signing up for Hyundai for the new season.
Breen wrapped up his fourth with a great drive on the Wolf Power Stage where he was a second fastest - just three tenths of a second behind stage winner Kalle Rovanpera (Toyota Yaris WRC). That gave him four bonus points to claim fourth overall in a very demanding rally.
Breen’s teammate Ott Tanak won the event in another Hyundai i20 WRC after leading the rally from start to finish. Tanak was 17.5 seconds ahead of Kalle Rovanpera in a Toyota Yaris, who moves into the championship lead four points ahead of Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville.
Earlier in the event Breen was in second place but dropped back to eight in the tricky conditions. His recovery was outstanding though and his final position was richly deserved.
Having only completed in one round so far, Craig Breen is 6th in the championship.
Next up in the championship is Rally Estonia at the end of April.
