Chrysler's new 200C EV Concept vehicle is causing something of a stir in the automotive world, not because of its engine or design but more because of its social networking capabilities. The car features a new connectivity and entertainment system concept called Uconnect. This allows for easy connectivity with home or office computers as well as social networking the car with friends, family or colleagues.
It means for example, your car could switch on your home lights, TV or cooker, while the smart telephony also means the car can be started remotely and even set the in-cabin temperature. The package also offers a "teen-setting" where parents could limit vehicle speed and range when being driven by their children.
Chrysler says Uconnect is also the first "vehicle networking system". Like social networking sites such as Facebook and Bebo, Uconnect can link vehicles together so a driver can share information with friends, know where their cars are located at any given time and send instant messages.
